Q: Difference between the eligibility of Judge of High Court and Judge of Supreme Court ?

Ans: The qualifications of High Court judges in accordance with Article 217(2) of Indian Constitution are as follows:

Must be a citizen of India.

Must have held a judicial office in India for at least 10 years. OR

Should have been an advocate in any of the High Court for at least 10 years.


Following are the qualifications required to become the judge of the Supreme Court in accordance with Article 124(2) of Indian Constitution  :

He must be a citizen of India.

He should have worked as a judge of a High court for atleast 5 years or,

He should have worked as an advocate of High Court for atleast 10 years or,

He is in the opinion of the President a distinguished Jurist.
